She’s printed it on her coffee mugs. It’s the screensaver on her phone. It’s engraved on a gold necklace hanging around her neck. It’s featured in artwork hanging on the wall of her study, and she’s produced it in a series of podcasts. Ultimately the message found in all these places became the full-length book you’re holding in your hands.

Heaven Rules It’s short! It’s catchy! And once you discover what it means, you will realize that it’s life-changing.

This message was birthed during the troubling days of COVID-19 when, according to Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, whose husband was also battling two unrelated cancers, “every day felt as though the sky was falling.”In case you haven’t noticed, we are still living in sky-falling days.

As this book is going to press, our American borders are overwhelmed with an influx of drugs and desperate immigrants. Inflation is out of control, with gasoline prices headed toward the stratosphere. School boards are erupting into riots as they fight over who has the right to educate our children. Many American workers are refusing to work, which means that companies trying to get on their feet after the pandemic shutdown are struggling to find employees. Escalating crime and poverty have reduced parts of the United States to developing-country status. Russia is at war with Ukraine, and little by little we can feel our nation being pulled into the conflict.

The details will be different in the days and years to come. But the question remains: What do we do as Christians when we find ourselves in such frightening circumstances? We have only two options. We must make a choice between two HRs. If you walk down the hall at the headquarters of our media ministry, you will pass an office that is our HR office. It’s our “Human Resources” department. HR = “Human Resources.” And let’s be honest, this is where most of us go when the sky is falling. We try to figure it all out ourselves. We trust our own resources and then we ask other humans to help us.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth has a better HR plan to suggest. Her HR stands for “Heaven rules.” And according to Nancy, “You’ll never watch the news quite the same way again once you start to get a sense of what’s going on behind those headlines, what God is doing on earth to accomplish His eternal, heavenly purposes” . . . when Heaven is ruling!
