Will I always need prayer?
The answer is “Yes!” While we are here on earth, we will always need to pray and seek God’s face both with our adoration and thanks and with our daily needs. Our concerns and troubles may not immediately be resolved through prayer because God’s timing is not ours, but prayer immediately brings comfort to us in a time of need. In prayer, we turn our thoughts and bring our anxieties to an all-wise, all-loving, and all-sovereign God, and as we take our cares to Him and place them into His loving hands, we receive His peace. In an evening prayer, David wrote this Psalm: “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep. For you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Psalm 4:8).
Christ exhorts in Luke 18:1, “Men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” Our heart is so vulnerable and prone to selfish desires that we cannot trust that it won’t lead us astray. That is why we must turn to the Lord for wisdom—to guide us in His infinite love. Nothing can ever replace prayer while we are here on earth. We will always need it.

DEBRA’S STORY
A Divine Appointment
Recently, I was at a San Diego Padres baseball game with a pastor friend who had come to visit on vacation. In the section where our seats were located, a woman named Debra was serving food and concessions.
During the game Debra came over to where I was seated to ask: “Are you really David Jeremiah?”
She proceeded to tell me that she had recently gotten out of prison. While she was serving her sentence, someone had given her a copy of our monthly Turning Points devotional magazine, and she read it cover-to-cover in one sitting. When she got to the end of the magazine, where we always present the Gospel, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior!
The Lord has burdened my heart to reach more people like Debra in particular—people who are in prison across the country and across the border—through The Heart of Christmas Project.
